James "Jim" Mitchell

Funeral services for James "Jim" Mitchell, 69, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell was born October 19, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, to Edith (Rice) and Clarence Mitchell.  He passed away at his residence on Friday, May 2, 2008, with his family by his bedside as he peacefully went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Jim was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Jim was a loving husband, wonderful dad and a doting "Pa Pa."  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends.  Jim retired from Consolidated Communications in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine. Daughter, Trina Redard and husband, Danny. Sons, Kurt Morrow and James Ellis and his wife, Ruth; Grand-girls, Kalie, Kylie, Jamie, Michelle and Lauren. Grand-boys, Ryan and Colin. Two great-grand-girls, Madison and Jordan. His brother, Ron Mitchell; sister-in-law, Polly Truly; and other family members. Additionally, family by ties of "Love," is his friend from grade school, Robert Pardue and wife, Joanna, and special friends here in Lufkin and Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents, and other family members.

Sincere "thank-you's" go to his brother, Ron Mitchell, for his love and support.  The doctors who cared for him. To A Pineywoods Hospice staff, you were a blessing (thanks for the hugs). To our Harmony Hill Baptist Church family and to everyone for their love and kindness shown during Jim's illness.

Active and Honorary pallbearers will be retired and former co-workers from Consolidated Communications.

Memorial contributions may be made to "Paving the Way" at Harmony Hill Baptist Church, 2708 S. Chestnut, Lufkin, Texas,  75901, or to A Pineywoods Hospice, 103C Carriage Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
