Eliza Mae "Cochran" Walker
Funeral services for Eliza Mae (Cochran) Walker, 85, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Dr. Darryl Smith and Reverend Neal Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker was born May 3, 1923 in the Ora Community, Angelina County, Texas to William Scott and Eureka (Ellis) Cochran, and went to be with her Lord Saturday, May 3, 2008.
Mrs. Walker, a lifelong resident of Angelina County, loved where she lived and on very few occasions traveled outside of the area. Her calling in life was to be a housewife, mother and grandmother. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, raising flowers and cooking. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Huntington First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Donna Walker, Kenneth and Nita Ann Walker, and Glenn and Gay Walker, all of Huntington; grandsons and wives, Jeff and Renee Walker and Dustin and April Walker, all of Huntington; granddaughters and husbands, Shilo and David Aguilar, Kyrie and Juan Reyes, all of Huntington, Valerie and John Sperry of Marshall and Jennifer and Jason Niosi of Lufkin; grandson, Doug Walker; granddaughters, DeAndra Walker, Laura Walker and Anna Walker, all of Huntington; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Ora Lee McPherson of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bertis and Lois Cochran of Cleburne and Buel and Wanda Puryear of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, James Mott and T.J. Gay, both of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Hildred Cochran of Apple Springs; good friend, James "Buddy" West of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, R.B. "Catsup" Walker; parents, Scott and Eureka Cochran; sisters, Martha Gay and Sue Mott; and brothers, Talmadge Cochran, Prentis Cochran, Gene Cochran and Birdwell Cochran.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Walker, Dustin Walker, Charles Colwell, Steve Thornton, David Cochran, Doug Cochran, Leland Cochran and Dwight Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Boots Morehead, Tot Morehead, Scott Morehead, Ted Ivy, Buddy West, James Mott, Buel Puryear and Bert Cochran.
Memorial contributions may be made to Huntington First Baptist Church, 702 North Main Street, Huntington, Texas 75949.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
