Whatever Happened to the Etoile Murder Investigation?

In August of 2007, the small town of Etoile was rocked when two people, Christy Brown and David Mitchamore Jr, were found shot to death in a field, murdered execution style.

So whatever happened to that investigation? In the days after that shooting, seven people were arrested, and ties to the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, a prison-based gang, were discovered. The first two people arrested, Charles frazier of Nacogdoches and Brent Stalsby of Lufkin, are the two who ended up being indicted on charges of capital murder, and will likely face the death penalty if convicted.

One reason that it's taking more time to prepare for the trial is that the law requires that qualified attorneys with experience defending against the death penalty be appointed. No such attorneys were available in Nacogdoches, so they had to be found elsewhere. We've learned that they have since been appointed and are working the case. The trial for the two men could start before the end of the year.

As for the other people arrested, three were indicted. April Flanagan, Carrie Wood, and Carl Carver all face charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
