Graduation was meant to be an enjoyable rite of passage for our teenagers, but stress and anxiety associated with it can be overwhelming to our kids.

Lapses in judgment are likely to increase as a result.  Many will be persuaded to experiment with drugs and alcohol, and sadly, some of these novice drivers will climb behind the wheel of a car while under the influence. That's a scary thought.

Consider This...The decisions your children make on graduation night may affect them for the rest of their lives.  As parents, we need to be involved with every aspect of this event.

Set ground rules ahead of time, so there's not a question about expected behavior.  Know what security will be in place and where they'll be going before and after graduation.  And make absolutely certain they understand that drinking and driving is unacceptable.

It may seem like they're not interested, but when parents get involved, kids listen!

That's what we think, tell us what you think.
