Freedom Fighters: Mellie Arps

"Buffalo Soldiers" is a nickname originally applied to members of the 10th Calvary Regiment by the Native American tribes they fought. This African American Regiment has a proud history dating from 1866 until the middle of the Korean War when it was integrated into other regiments.

Mellie Arps fought as a Buffalo Soldier in World War Two, from Italy into Berlin. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for his bravery and came back home to become minister and Mason.
