Funeral services for James Douglas Tyler, 64, of Palmetta, Florida, will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Bro. Michael D. Brittain officiating. Interment will follow in the Narrow Way Cemetery with Bro. Kim Harper officiating.
Mr. Tyler was born May 2, 1944, in Knox City, Texas, the son of the late Mary Hazel (Tefteller) and James Dewey Tyler. He passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, in Bradenton, Florida.
Mr. Tyler was an electrician for the Florida Power and Light Company. He enjoyed remote control airplanes. He had resided in Palmetto, Florida, for the past 4 years, and was a former resident of Abilene, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Tyler of Mt. Olive, Illinois; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carla Tyler of Apple Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Mitch Roggenbuck of Roseau, Minnesota; stepchildren, Sheila, Cindy, Donald, Jr., and Virgil; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ford of Sweetwater, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Kelley, Marshall Kelley, Travis Kelley, Jeffery Kelley, Mark Phillips, Ronald Tyler and Jeff Tyler.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
