The Burke Center Receives $1.6 Million

The Burke Center has received $1.6-million in state funding for a new program that would provide an emergency psychiatric service facility.

The plan has been in the works for a couple of years now for a facility that would provide 24-hour psychiatric assessment and treatment. This would relieve pressure on emergency rooms, law enforcement, and would provide appropriate care to residents. The money would also go to building a residential unit for residents to continue treatment.

This is something they say is needed in our area.

Services could begin as early as September.
