Click It or Ticket

For the first time Nacogdoches County will be participating in the statewide 'Click It or Ticket ' initiative.   County commissioners approved the $8,000 state grant. Two Nacogdoches County sheriff's deputies will be added to the morning and night shifts to patrol for seatbelt and child restraint violators.   Chief deputy Doug Richardson said,    " Sometimes zero tolerance is the best way to convince somebody to comply and I think that one life saved throughout this whole enforcement period is well worth us officers being out there working. " If you're in the front seat during a crash, wearing a safety belt improves your chance of survival by 50 %. The county will join the city of Nacogdoches in the safety program. The city's Selected Traffic Enforcement Program and Click It or Ticket runs May 19 through June 1st.
