Overnight Storms Affect City of Lufkin's Water Wells

Lufkin city manager Paul Parker says that overnight storms have affected power to some of the city's water wells.

Parker says that normally, the city has 5 - 6 wells in operation at one time.

As of Thursday morning, the number of wells in operations was reduced to 3 due to some power polls down and limbs on power lines.

Parker went on to say that at the moment, Lufkin water customers should not be affected if the situation in fixed later today.

TXU spokesman David Collier says that at it's worse, about 2500 of their customers were without power during the early morning hours.   Except for a few scattered spots, most have had their power restored.
