Three East Texas seniors will be leaving the piney woods and going to a life in the military. Matt Adams and Graham Tyson from Lufkin High School will both be headed to the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Brian Ma from Nacogdoches will be leaving in August to go to the Naval Academy's prep school.
Brian took his oath to the military today in Nacogdoches. Matt wasn't able to make it to the event but Graham was there and was honored for his achievements throughout school and the decision he made at a young age to go to the academy. But for Brian it was something that took a little getting used to. "In sixth grade I visited the Naval Academy with my grandparents and I learned about what it's all about, the whole process to go through, the end result and it's what I've wanted to do for seven years now," Tyson said. Brian Ma explains, "My dad first brought up the idea to me and I was kind of skeptical about it at first but then it grew on me and I came to realize that it's one of the finest institutions in the United States and that I would have great opportunities afterwards, after graduating."
