Rose Mary Nicholson, of Lufkin, was born in Manning, the daughter of the late Lena (Cartosa) and Victor Lamont. She passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Nicholson was a homemaker, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her home and family. Mrs. Nicholson was an avid gardener, seamstress and great cook. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved the outdoors. She won the "Yard Beautiful" award several times. She was a member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, James Nicholson of Lufkin; daughter, Patricia Ann Diaz of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Nell and Carlos Periera of Stockton, California; stepson, James S. Nicholson, Jr. and his wife Linda of Muskogee, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Bailey and her husband Frank of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Leroy Terry of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, James and Cheryl Lamont of Lufkin; brother, Victor Lamont of Houston; sister-in-law, Ann Nicholson Mayeaux of Houston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan and Margaret Nicholson of Highlands, Norman Nicholson of Carthage and Morris and Beverly Nicholson of Humble; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Hill; and brothers, John Lamont and Sam Lamont.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Terry, Carlos Periera, Sam Lamont, Jr., Morris Nicholson, Mark Nicholson and Steve Nicholson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Nicholson, Kent James and Kenneth Roland.

Services for Mrs. Nicholson will be held at Noon on Thursday, May 22, 2008 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with The Reverend Douglas J. Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
