Carrie H. Wheeler
Carrie H. Wheeler, 70, of Lufkin, was born May 28, 1937, in Nacogdoches, Texas, the daughter of the late Effie (Rudd) and Alvin Abner Baker. She passed away Monday, May 19, 2008.
Mrs. Wheeler was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also worked in food service in the Lufkin Independent School District for a number of years. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and gardening. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Dalton M. Wheeler of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Darlene Morton of Grapeland and James and Teresa Morton of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Brennen Coaliron of Tarkington; stepsons, Kenneth Wheeler and wife Gail of LaPorte, J. B. Wheeler and wife Dianne of Etoile, Charles Wheeler and wife Sue of Nacogdoches and Billy Ray Wheeler of Kingtown; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other family members; and a host of friends.
Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Edward Morton, the son of Tommy and Willie Morton; son, Donnie Glen Wheeler; and grandson, Craig Glen Morton.
Pallbearers will be James Kubiak, Terry Morton, Scott Morton, Blake Coaliron, Wes Wheeler and David Wheeler.
Honorary pallbearers will be John David Pyle and Bryan Pyle.
Services for Mrs. Wheeler will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend M. D. Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.
