Hudson's Hines Signs With 'Jacks

by Ryan Peterson

Hudson native Tanner Hines had two choices.  Sign with Pac Ten baseball power Arizona, or come back to East Texas and play for Stephen F. Austin.   One of the top hitters in Region 14 has landed with the Jacks.

Hines, who spent the last two years at San Jacinto Junior College, has signed with S.F.A.  Hines says he'll play shortstop for the Jacks.

"I wanted to play and that was the main thing I'm going to chose with a college," Hines says.  "I felt comfortable at S.F.A. I know these surroundings and felt good with the coach and it's close to home. I felt like that would be the best hit for me to be a better player."

Hines batted .360 for San Jac.  He played in the JUCO World Series as a freshman.
