C. L. Smith

Services for C. L. Smith, 70, of Lufkin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, in the Rivercrest House of Prayer, with Bishop B. J. Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born October 8, 1937, and he passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Smith was a loving son, father and grandfather. He was a self employed diesel mechanic. He was assistant pastor at Rivercrest House of Prayer.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cherl and Timothy Armstrong of Lufkin; sons, James Smith and Charles Smith, both of Florida; daughter, Brenda Deedrick of Florida; special friends, Flossie Cooper of Huntington, Dona and Thomas House of Lufkin, Odell Plummer and Pastor Bob Armstrong; mother, Edna Smith of Mississippi; sisters, Debbie Sadlowski of Florida and Charlotte Bolton of Mississippi; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Brett Peacock of Mississippi and Becky and Ricky of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Dewight and Jenny Smith of West Virginia; grandsons, Justin Combs, Dustin Combs, Travis Combs and Mason Smith; granddaughters, Jaime Hiatt and Dona Nichole Smith; several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Raines; son, Alex Smith, father, John Smith; brother, Troy Smith; and sister, Mary Teague.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Smith, Cliff Murphy, Justin Combs, Ricky Collins, Thomas House and Lloyd Sadowski.

Memorials may be made to the Rivercrest House of Prayer, 461 Joe Bynum Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will receive friends at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home until 2:00 p.m. Friday, and then beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday evening at Rivercrest House of Prayer.
