Lois "Granny" Bridges

Lois "Granny" Bridges, 86, of Lufkin, was born November 19, 1921, in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Arzy (Johnson) and Sterling Squyres. She passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Bridges was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Barringer of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Garvin and Deranda Bridges and Leon and Marcie Bridges; son, Melvin Bridges and special friend Deborah Burran, all of Lufkin; granddaughter and her husband, Shawnte and Eli Perez of Lufkin; granddaughter, Tara Thompson of Lufkin; grandson, Richard Mac Allen and fiancé Emily Castro of Bellingham, Washington; grandson, Leon Bridges, Jr. of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Addie, Jace and Gabe; and a number of other family members.

Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lee Bridges.

Pallbearers will be Eli Perez, Leon Bridges, Jr., Randy Bridges, Garvin Bridges, Melvin Bridges and Leon Bridges.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Pat Haynes and Erik Wilson for their care during Mrs. Bridges' illness.

Graveside services for Mrs. Bridges will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in the Berry Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
