Laura Jo Jones Welch
Funeral services for Laura Jo Jones Welch, 47, of Lufkin will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in the Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin with Reverend Steve Sparks and Reverend Charles M. Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.
Ms. Welch was born August 28, 1960, in Pasadena, Texas, to James and Doris (Hartley) Jones. She died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at her home in Lufkin surrounded by family, following a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Laura Jo graduated from Lufkin High School in 1978, and attended Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, and Angelina College in Lufkin. She had been employed with the Texas Workers Compensation Commission for eight years. Laura Jo greatly loved music, and it had been a big part of her life. She played in the Lufkin High School Band, sang in A Cappella Choir, and had also sung with various Christian music groups. She was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and had resided in Lufkin most of her life.
Survivors include her son, Jason Monroe Welch of Lufkin; her parents, James and Doris Jones of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Randy Holloway, and Sherry and Robin Schlaudt, all of Lufkin; nieces and nephews, Joni and Ryan Hall, Jennifer, John, Jeffrey, Joshua, Joel, Joanna and Jessica Schlaudt, all of Lufkin, and James and Bekah Holloway of Austin; and great nieces, Hallie and Harlie Hall of Lufkin.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hall, John Schlaudt, Jeffrey Schlaudt, Joshua Schlaudt, Joel Schlaudt, and James Holloway.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
