Lufkin Wreck

by Tina Alexander

Slow down and watch out is the reminder today from the Lufkin Police Department.

Various construction projects on major streets and highways are causing increased traffic on Loop 287 and the feeder roads around Lufkin.   Shortly before noon Tuesday emergency crews responded to an accident on Loop 287 that served as a vivid reminder for motorists.

It appears a truck and car were entering Loop 287 from the Atkinson Drive feeder road when the car apparently slowed down to merge into oncoming traffic, the truck behind him apparently did not and hit the car from behind.

Freddie Williams, the driver of the red Infinity was treated for a cut to his head.  Arron Knight, the driver of the black Toyota Tundra was treated for a cut to his hand. Both declined treatment, except for the medical treatment that they received on the scene.  Knight was given a ticket for failure to control his speed and for no seatbelt.
