Farechild's Closing

After eight months of operation, the owner of Farechild's has announced the restaurant is closing in the coming days. Shelley Brophy says the business isn't turning the profit she had hoped for. She'll continue to run her smaller downtown business, Shelley's Bakery.

The historic home, owned by the Hayter Trust has had a round of bad luck. Before Farechild's, there was the 'Hayter House'. It closed following a family dispute.

Community leaders don't want to give up on the city landmark. Chamber director Bruce partain said,    " I think that building has a lot of potential. It's going to find it's niche, just like Shelley has found her niche. So we'll wait to see. It's going to be exciting to see what might come next at that building. "   The property manager says attempts will begin soon to lease the building. Today Brophy held four job fairs for her 50 displaced workers.
