DETCOG Progress

by Christa Lollis

At today's DETCOG meeting, Executive Director Walter Diggles, talked about what the organization has done in the last year and it's hopes for the months ahead. Diggles explained that in the past year the agency has still been helping families in East Texas rebuild and restore their homes from hurricane Rita damage. They also upgraded all 911 systems in the area to make sure all even rural areas have service.

For the upcoming year DETCOG hopes to have new towers for homeland security set up throughout East Texas. They're also in the process of finalizing a system to locate a cell phone user when they call 911. Diggles says that's going to be their biggest challenge this year.
