A no refusal weekend in Polk County ended with no alcohol related accidents. Officers tried the new program during the Memorial weekend. According to the Polk County district attorney, 14 people were arrested for DWI's and 5 for BWI's. 7 people pulled over on suspicion of intoxication refused the breathalyzer and were administered blood tests when they arrived at the jail. The DA said they got feedback from boaters that they heard about the crackdown so they made sure to have designated drivers. The county hopes to try no refusal again because it was so successful.
