Proud Of East Texas: Northeast Texas Music Festival

Norma Wilkinson has taken her childhood love of music and her love of her town of Winnsboro and turned them into a major music festival.  Eight years ago, Wilkinson got a grass roots group together to plan The Northeast Texas Music Festival and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

Although the festival features all kinds of music, the headliners are Country Music stars.  Johnny Rodriquez and Eddie Raven are this years headliners on June 7th.

Rodriquez has appeared before and also become a regular at Wilkinson's Historic Oaklea Manor Bed and Breakfast.  Wilkinson's office walls are covered with photos of the many stars who've stayed there and stars like Janie Frickie have become personal friends.  Not only has the festival benefited the town of Winnsboro, Wilkinson says meeting, so many stars have been a big perk for her as well.

The Northeast Texas Music Festival is June 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Winnsboro City Park Pavilion.
