Central Heights pitcher and San Augustine native Trey Haley was picked in the second round by the Cleveland Indians Thursday. Haley was the 76th overall selection.
Spending his senior season with the Blue Devils, Haley hit nearly .500 with 12 home runs. But it's his arm that caught scouts attention. Haley throws in the 90's and won nine games his senior year with ERA under two.
Though he was drafted, Haley has other options. He's already signed to play for Rice next season. The Owls are one of the top college programs in the nation and are playing this weekend against Texas A&M in the Super Regional's.
