Guy Marion Summers, of Huntington, was born March 25, 1933, in Huntington, Texas, the son of the late Robert Guy Summers and Elsie Nerren Summers. Guy was 75 years of age, and passed away at his home on Sunday, June 8, 2008.

Guy was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntington. He retired from Texas Foundry/Citation after 45 years. He was Pattern Shop foreman from 1975-1992. Guy built and ran Sportsman's Corner in Huntington from 1967 - 1972. He served on the Huntington School Board for 6 years and was a member of the Huntington City Council for two years. Guy loved his wife, his girls, his grandkids, his little dog, Cocoa, his farm and hunting. He was loved by everyone that knew him.

Special people in Guy's life were Dr. Thomas Willis and staff, and Evelyn Brookshire, Christina Evett, Anna Ellis, Ange Rhodes, and Shirley Johnson of Providence Home Health, and also special friend, Hazel Evans.

Survivors include his wife of 51 ½ years, Virginia Scaff Summers of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Bambi and Dan Spurgeon, Belinda and David Moore and Jennifer and Ricky Mills, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Chelsea and Chloe Shofner, Priscilla Spurgeon, Blair and Blaze Miller, Anna Mackenzie Moore, and Katie and Tori Mills; great-granddaughter, Briley Blair Mann; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Flora Nell Summers of Lufkin; sisters, Charlene Rogozinski and Wanda Robinson, both of Pasadena; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents; sister and nephew, Sue Shelton and Mark Johnson; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ferd and Estelle Scaff.

Pallbearers will be his brother, Glenn Summers, his grandson, Blaze Miller, his sons-in-law, Ricky Mills, David Moore and Dan Spurgeon and his nephew, Jonathan Summers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Employees and Retired Employees of Texas Foundry/Citation.

Services for Guy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Lamar Denby and Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Karl and Julie Davis. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
