Funeral services for Olean Chandler, 90, of Lufkin, Texas will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Culp and Bro. Marvin Best officiating. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday in the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center, Texas.
Mrs. Chandler was born October 25, 1917, in Shelby County, Texas, the daughter of the late Maggie (Watson) and Clinton McClain. She died Sunday, June 8, 2008, in a Lufkin nursing home.
Mrs. Chandler had resided in Lufkin for the past 30 years, and was a former longtime resident of Center. She was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family. Mrs. Chandler was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ethelda (Scooter) and Chester Davis of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Wanda and Randy Baggett, Jo and Dale Manthey, Christi Chandler, Randy Davis, and David and Lesa Chandler; seven great grandchildren; and six great-great children; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Buren E. Chandler, on January 26, 2008, and by her son, Delton Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Providence Baptist Church.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
