Temple-Inland Property Fire

by Christel Phillips

Trinity County Sheriff's Department informed KTRE that a forest fire started just before 8 p.m. Monday evening.

A power line fell, starting the fire on the South Boggy Slough Property, off of Highway 94, just past Boggy Creek. Rescue 1 Unit, the Apple Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and the Texas Forest Service were called to the scene.

It is not known how many acres burned, and there were no injuries reported. The Sheriff's office says the fire was put out at around 10:30 p.m.

As of 11:15 Monday night, power was out for much of the area, and it was not known how long it will be before power is restored.  We will continue to update you on this story as it develops on KTRE.
