Harold E. Kaemmerling

Harold E. Kaemmerling, 77, of Lufkin, was born December 29, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of the late Gertrude (Kerr) and Carl E. Kaemmerling. He passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Kaemmerling was a retired architect. He graduated from Lufkin High School in 1947 and graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. Degree and a B.S. Degree in Architecture. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Mr. Kaemmerling was a member and a Deacon of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Mr. Kaemmerling was a member of Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M., was past Master of the Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master, Life Member, Secretary of Lodge (18 years) and recipient of "Golden Trowel Award". He was a member of Lufkin Chapter No. 240, Royal Arch Mason, was High Priest, District Deputy Grand High Priest and Order of High Priesthood.

He was a member of Lufkin Council No. 176, Royal and Select Master, Thrice Illustrious Master, District Deputy Grand Master of Council and Super Excellent Master. He was also Commander of Lufkin Commandery No. 88, Knights Templar and Prior Knights York Cross of Honor, Texas Prior No. 23.

He was a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Houston Consistory 22 Degree Team, President, Dwight M. Thrash Scottish Rite Association, Knight Commander of the Court of Honor, Venerable Master, Houston Lodge of Perfection; Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Arabia Temple; Red Cross of Constantine, Ascension Conclave; and Texas Chapter Knight Perceptor.

He served the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas and the Texas Masonic Retirement Center as the architect for the Clinic and duplex housing complex. He also served as building consultant for the repairs and remodeling projects on the campus of TMRC.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Kaemmerling of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Rick Dyer of Frisco; daughter, Marcia Carlisle of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Joseph Kaemmerling of Lufkin; grandchildren, Robert Carlisle, Ryan Carlisle and Kirby Carlisle; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Glynda Kaemmerling of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kaemmerling was preceded in death by his brother, Perry Lee Kaemmerling.

Pallbearers will be Rick Dyer, Robert Carlisle, Ryan Carlisle, Kirby Carlisle, David Kaemmerling, Eugene Brookshire, Charles Kaemmerling and Bryan McCarty.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Lively, Emmett Travis, Bill Morgan, Jerry Marsh and Calvin Kaemmerling.

Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Kaemmerling's memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Services for Mr. Kaemmerling will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
