Mary Dee Williams, 71, of Lufkin, was born January 28, 1937, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Jewel (Griffith) and Rootin Miller. She passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008.
Mrs. Williams was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was a nurse for more than 40 years, working at Lufkin Nursing Center and Southland Health Care Center. She also owned and operated Kid's Korner Consignment Shop for 8 years. She loved her dogs, Charlie and Sugar. Her passion was spending time with her sister, Sylvia and shopping. She was a doll collector, enjoyed viewing open houses, and loved to shop for Christmas presents 2 years in advance!
Survivors include her husband, Sammie Williams of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kathy Williams of Lufkin and David and Tylia Williams of Whitehouse; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Nick Chandler of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Dillon, Lindsey and Ryan Williams, Mitchell Carlin, Tave' Johnson, and Trent and Jack Williams, Rachel, Rebecca and Rosemary Chandler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Kenneth Benson of Pasadena, Libby and Billy Meredith of Arkansas and June and Jim Stuckey of Texas; a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends; and special friends, JoAnn Rham, Shirley Parker and Frances Davis.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Williams.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Williams, Mitchell Carlin, Dillon Williams, Nick Chandler, Kenneth Benson and Kenneth W. Benson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Williams and Trent Williams.
Services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
