There will be a horse sale in Lufkin Friday and Saturday at the George H. Henderson Expo Center.
The sale is bringing in interested buyers and sellers from as far away as Tennessee and Illinois. Friday's events centered around ranch horses, with roping and cutting demonstrations, and a sale Friday night.
Like everything else, high gas prices have hurt events like this, because organizers say the number of people who come out just to look at the animals has dropped.
"If a person's not interested in participating with a horse to sell or a horse to buy, they're just not going to come out and look," said sales manager Wayne Boyd. "But still there's a lot of horse economy in the United States."
