Funeral services for Alton "Pop" Lenderman, Sr., 76, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy Hall and Reverend Dennis Cook officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Ivie Cemetery in Houston County under the auspices of the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Lenderman was born January 21, 1932 in Houston County, Texas to the late Ala Mae (Blakeway) and William B. Lenderman, and died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Lenderman had resided in Lufkin for 56 years. He was a member of the 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard, served one year with the Angelina County Sheriff's Department, 12 years with the Lufkin Police Department, and 20 years as Constable of Precinct 2 in Angelina County. Mr. Lenderman was a member of the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M. and attended Memorial Baptist Church. He was known for his love of gardening and restoring and displaying his award winning antique tractors.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Loretta Lenderman of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Alton and Marilyn Lenderman and Jimmy and Sherrie Lenderman, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Trey Lenderman, Chana Miller, Buddy Miller, Elijah Lenderman, Brian Crager and Jonathan Crager; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Sophie Lenderman of Beulah and Charles and Jane Lenderman of Diboll; sister, Shirlene Lewing of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Masons from the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
