Proud Of East Texas - The Meyers

Roping, riding and steer wrestling are cowboy skills that go back generations in the Meyers family. Butch Meyers and his sons, Rope and Cash, have dozens of world titles and records among the three of them. In many ways they are the royal family of rodeoing.

As a child, Butch honed his skills on the "Little Britcihes ' circuit. By the time Butch was in college, he was winning much bigger trophies.

In 1980 Butch captured the world title in steer wrestling. He's set numerous records in rodeo competition during his career, but he says his proudest moment came at the age of 52 when he became the oldest cowboy to ever compete in the national finals ... against his son Rope

Rope, who became World Champion Steer Wrestler in 2001, is the only one to ever beat his dad's record-setting time at the national finals.  But Butch enjoys his son's success even more than his own.

While Butch's sons continue to win titles, his grandchildren are already carrying on the family tradition. And Butch Meyers thinks the best is yet to come.
