Mrs. L. G. (Louise Jenkins) Rusk

Mrs. L. G. (Louise Jenkins) Rusk, 95, a longtime resident of Redland Community, Angelina County, was born September 23, 1912, in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, the daughter of the late Lida (Langford) and Edward Jenkins. She passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, in a Nacogdoches nursing facility.

Mrs. Rusk was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was also a homemaker who loved to cook and grow flowers. One of her greatest pleasures was her lifetime of active participation with Redland Baptist Church. Mrs. Rusk was the oldest living member of Redland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, L. Giles and Michelle Rusk of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jack Jumper of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Blake W. Rusk, Byron W. Rusk, Rebecca Jumper Matheson and her husband Dan, Rachel Leah Jumper, Vonda Vardeman and S. E. Morgan; great-grandchildren, Harrison Giles Rusk and his wife Candace, Ford Robertson Rusk and Elizabeth Grace Matheson; great-great granddaughter, Alexis Louise Rusk; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Mrs. Rusk was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, L. G. Rusk, Sr.; son, John Gordon Rusk; daughter, Patsy Verea Rusk; daughter-in-law, Ruth R. Rusk; brother, Curtis Jenkins; and sisters, Jessie Freeman, Lela Tindall and Sudie Broach.

Pallbearers will be David Ashby, Rodney Brazil, Jerry Carlisle, Arden Jinkins, Eugene Tapia, Ed Tindall and Joel Tindall.

Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Baird.

The family wishes to thank those who gave special care to Mrs. Rusk: Pauline Haney, Jonell and David Ashby, Melinda Tapia and Debra Rita.

Services for Mrs. Rusk will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with David Culp and Reverend Ty Phillips officiating. Eulogy will be given by Betty Vernon. Interment will follow in the Redland Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
