Joyce Wallace Smith
Joyce Wallace Smith, 81, of Lufkin, was born November 28, 1926, in Bruceville, Texas, the daughter of the late Ora Lee (Eaves) and Jessie J. Wallace. She passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, in a Rockwall nursing facility.
Mrs. Smith was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church, where she and her husband were very active in the Special Education Ministry, and she served as the secretary for numerous years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Nancy Smith of Rowlett; daughter, Theresa Smith of Rockwall; grandchildren, Heather Young and her husband Eric of Denver, Colorado, Daniel Smith and his wife, Allison of Rockwall and Graham Smith and his wife Lauren of Benbrook; great-grandchildren, Luke Young and Victoria Young of Denver, Colorado, Clara Smith of Benbrook and Austin Smith of Rockwell; niece, Suzanne Leyden and her husband Tom; nephew, Kyle Leyden; and a number of other family members.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Smith, on April 16, 2001.

Services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until service time Thursday in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
