East Texas Housing Market Remains Stable

by Mystic Matthews

Despite the national housing crisis and state of the economy, a new addition of lots is available in Diboll. Officials say the market in Angelina County is stable and in need of new homes.

Deer Trace has been a neighborhood in Diboll for the last 18 years. There were 70 lots in the subdivision but now they have opened a new section, with 26 wooded lots for sale.

"We think this expansion of these 26 lots will be very desirable," said developer Jim Brody. "It's in a wonderful location and a wonderful community, with access to all key points of interest in Angelina County."

The housing market has taken a dive nationally, but Brody says the state of Texas has held up much better than other states.

"We absolutely agree these lots at this location in Angelina County, the quality of the infrastructure, the sewer and drainage makes these lots desirable," said Brody.

Real estate experts say the market in the county has been even.

"It may take a little longer to sell a home or find the home you want, but it's just stable and doesn't seem to be affected by the national market," said Real Estate Agent, Sandra Pouland.
