Funeral services for Monnye Ruth Nichols, 82, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roger Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery near Cushing.

Mrs. Nichols was born February 23, 1926 in the Latch Community of Gilmer, Texas to Edna Viola (May) and Reverend Thomas L. "Jack" Bullard, and died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Nichols was a longtime resident of Lufkin, and retired from J.C. Penney after many years of service. She was a faithful church member and Sunday school teacher, formerly teaching the Ruth Sunday school class at Redland Baptist Church, and the Willing Workers Sunday school class at Bald Hill Baptist Church. She currently attended the Ruth Sunday school class at Bald Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Nichols of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, George and Gail Nichols, Mike and Glynna Nichols, all of Lufkin, and Jackie and Jenny Nichols of Cushing; grandchildren, Melinda Crittenden, Brian Nichols, Belinda and Sam Rothfeld, Scott and Kimberly Nichols, Ashly and Jeff Hutson, Dustin and Cambierlie Nichols and Cody Nichols; great-grandchildren, J.R. Crittenden, Luke Crittenden, Raleigh Crittenden, Hayley Rothfeld, Quinten Rothfeld, Chase Hutson, Blake Hutson, Mary Elizabeth Nichols, Kaleb Nichols, Kole Nichols and Keaton Nichols; grandchildren by love, Abbie and Paul Mikeska and Crystal Chapman; and brother-in-law, Hollis "Pete" Nichols of Cushing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril H. "Red" Nichols; son, Thomas Lynn Nichols; and sister, Mildred Burns.

Pallbearers will be Brian Nichols, Scott Nichols, Dustin Nichols, Cody Nichols, Sam Rothfeld, Jeff Hutson and J.R. Crittenden.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bald Hill Baptist Church.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
