Jail Inspection

by Donna McCollum

Good news for the Nacogdoches County Jail. It passed a recent jail inspection.   It was routine, other than the fact that it was a 'complete' inspection, requiring a two day visit from the inspector. The jail's age and heavy use can sometimes cause problems, but this time the facility passed with no trouble.

Kerss said, " They looked at records. They looked at staffing ratios. They looked at quite a number of things, in addition to the condition of the facility itself and we were able to come out with a good score. "

Recently the Nacogdoches County Jail has sent inmates to Gregg County due to overcrowding. That's no longer the case. A new county position is allowing inmates' transfer papers to be processed faster.
