NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Summer is a busy time for NISD Plant Services Director Ross Holbrook. He oversees school improvements paid for by the majority of 1.7 million dollars in tax rollback funds. Every school is receiving some kind of maintenance. The larger projects include Nettie Marshall Elementary. A new air conditioner system and energy efficient windows are going in. Holbrook said, " Units we're replacing over in Nettie Marshall were 27 years old and they had reached their life expectancy 7 years ago. "
Asbestos removal occurred in Nettie Marshall and Fredonia Elementaries. As it's taken from a wing, painting and flooring crews come in. Holbrook wants taxpayers to know about the summer projects. " I like them to know where their money is being spent and let them see that it's actually going for the students. "
Other improvements include a new high school track surface and new fixtures in the high school commons restrooms. Holbrook is confident all the work will be completed by the time teachers return in one month.
