Pet killed too early according to city

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Animal Shelter supervisor Jennifer Harris was first placed on paid suspension. Then she was fired, but is appealing the personnel action. City manager Jim Jeffers says Harris was fired for prematurely euthanizing an animal. An internal investigation began after the pet's owner alerted Harris' supervisors. The grievance hearing will be held in coming weeks. In the mean time, veterinarians are euthinizing animals on a contract basis.
