ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas man has been charged with injuring his own daughter.

The Angelina County sheriff's office says Kenneth Ray Loftin Junior grabbed his daughter, who was 3 months old at the time, so hard he broke her ribs and leg.

The injury was reported in May to the sheriff's office by a Lufkin hospital when the girl came in for treatment. She was also taken to Herman Hospital in Houston to be examined. Results showed it wasn't just an isolated incident.

The girls mother admitted to seeing Loftin shoving their daughter down and squeezing her so hard her fingers turned a different color. The child has been with CPS since May when the report was filed.

If convicted, Loftin could serve 5 to 99 years in prison for injury to a child.
