NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County has received a prestigious award from the Texas Association of Counties. It recognizes how workload was streamlined in an effort to lower the jail population.   An Austin videographer toured the courthouse with Sharon Sowell. She's the person who works closely with judges and attorneys in the process of getting inmates papers ready for prison. What she does earned the county the 'Best Practices' state award. Nacogdoches County Joe English said, " It was an idea I got from a group that came from Washington and did the original assessment of our judicial system and this was one of the things they recommended at that time that we do. "    The video will be shown at the Texas Association of Counties annual convention in Austin. It will also be shown to state legislators during the next session.
