Big rig causes fiery crash on Hwy 59 in Seven Oaks

SEVEN OAKS, TX (KTRE) - Troopers say a car was northbound on Hwy 59, turning into a gas station when an 18-wheeler behind slowed down.

A second 18-wheeler came up and rear-ended the first rig,  busting its own diesel tank.

That's what troopers say started the fire that destroyed the rig. The other one was damaged as well.

The driver of the second rig was life-lighted to Hermann Hospital in Houston and the passenger was taken to Livingston Memorial.

The driver of the first rig was not injured.

Troopers believe the first 18-wheeler was traveling around 15-20 miles per hour during impact and the second one was going about 50 mph.

The driver of that second rig was cited for failing to maintain proper speed.
