Near head-on south of Zavalla injures 1

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A near head-on wreck about five miles south of Zavalla involving a pick-up truck versus a car, sends one person to the hospital.

A passenger in the Chevrolet truck says they were headed north on 69 from Kountze, when they noticed a car on the shoulder turning right in front of them.

Troopers say there were two teens in the car, but only one was injured.  Both went in the same ambulance to Lufkin.

The truck rolled about three times before landing in some trees.

Two adults and two children, who were both in car seats, were in the truck along with their Chinese Crested dog.

The woman says she handed the dog to a witness who stopped to help, but now the dog is gone.  She thinks the man took off with the valuable pet.

There were no injuries to the people in the truck and troopers are still investigating.

They don't believe weather was a factor, even though the road was wet.
