LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - One day after being found guilty of seriously injuring a woman by intoxication assault with his vehicle, a man was sentenced to 10 years probation.

Jerry Wayne Anderson was convicted for 3rd degree intoxication assault on Thursday.

The District Attorney says Anderson was passed out in his vehicle off Highway 63, south of Zavalla.

His car was in the road when the victim hit his car, spun out of control and hit a tree.

She was seriously injured and is still recovering ten months later.

The first 180 days of Anderson's sentence will be served in jail. He'll then be responsible for the victim's medical bills and loss of wages. His driver's license will also be suspended indefinitely.
