Haley signs with Indians

Central Heights pitcher and San Augustine native Trey Haley will not play college baseball.  The Texas 2A player of the year has signed with the Cleveland Indians. Haley, a second round pick by the Indians in June, had until midnight eastern time to sign.

If he had not signed, the Indians would have lost his rights and Haley would have gone to school.  He had previously signed to pitch at Rice. Instead he will leave for the final week of rookie ball in Florida.  After the rookie season ends, Haley will head to the Indians single-A club in Ohio, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
