Three people shot in alleged attempted robbery

LUFKIN (KTRE) - Two victims and one suspect have been shot in what police say is an attempted robbery gone wrong.

It happened shortly after 10:30 Sunday night at the Catfish King on East Loop 287 in Lufkin.

According to police, restaurant manager Katherine Jeffreys and her friend, Keith Labrozzi were leaving the restaurant after closing with the night deposit.

The suspect, Brian Martin Womack, allegedly fired a shot that struck Jeffreys in the foot.  Labrozzi had a handgun and he and Womack exchanged gunfire with Labrozzi being shot multiple times.

Labrozzi later died from his injuries.

Capital Murder charges have now been filed on Womack.
