LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The annual 'Walk Across Texas" program is getting ready to kick-off, but this year expect something a little different.
This time around there's a challenge involved. Angelina County will be competing with other surrounding counties to see who can walk the most "miles" across Texas.
Of course, there is no real trek across the Lone Star state. Instead, it's an eight-week program where teams of eight get together to exercise.
Anna Lee with the County Extension Office says it's about getting fit.
"You have to make an extra effort to be physically active. With this program, you have team members that will help motivate you and keep you on track of being physically active and once you form a habit, it becomes even easier."
