LISD holds new teacher luncheon

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Almost 60 new teachers are joining the panther nation this year, which Superintendent Roy Knight says is well below the state average turnover.

31 of those new teachers are brand new to the classroom.

Knight say they are at full staff for educators this year.  However, they are still looking for other members to join the LISD family.

"We are always looking for hourly employees that help keep the wheels on the bus, literally.  You can never have enough of those."

Knight also says the teachers at LISD treat all children as if they were their own. They are ready for school come Monday morning.
