ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An Angelina County man is dead after deputies attempted to serve him five felony warrants today.

Just before noon today deputies arrived at a mobile home on Highway 69 to serve the warrants for assault and burglary to 26 year old Gary Michael Evett.

After getting permission from Evett's father, the deputies entered the house and found Evett with a gun pointed to his head.

Deputies and his father pleaded with him to put the gun down but Evett wouldn't and shot himself in the head.

Deputies immediately began CPR but Evett was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
