CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Police Chief Jimmy Fisher walked in to the Houston County jail today but not on police business. He was booked in as an inmate.

In a press release the district attorney's office said, Chief Fisher allegedly obtained credit cards in his son Christopher Fisher's name without Christopher's consent or knowledge. He's accused of opening 3 accounts in his sons name.

KTRE first brought you the story in December when allegations surfaced. During an interview then with the East Texas News, Fisher said those accounts were joint accounts with his son but acknowledged that DPS was investigating.

The DA's office explained, this information was brought to Christopher's attention while he was applying for a position at the Texas Department of Public Safety. According to the DA's office, Fisher's son was denied employment because of the accounts. And now, the police chief is facing charges for opening them.

While the indictment was handed down and the chief was arrested, the DA says quote, " Chief Fisher is innocent until proven guilty." The city council is expected to call an emergency meeting to determine whether or not Fisher can continue with his duties as police chief with the allegations against him.
