Hospital Compare

by Christa Lollis

EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - If you're looking at what hospital is best suited for you there are several ways to do some research on your own.

One way is to use a web site called hospital compare. It rates the hospitals on several levels from the mortality rate to the amount of time it takes to administer medicine after a patient arrives.

You can compare hospitals against each other or by themselves but the hospitals warn not to solely depend on web sites like that.

Lance Jones with Woodland Heights said, "I also think that it's a relationship between the patient and their physician as to where they most feel comfortable. Certainly we want to ensure that our level of care here gives a patient every reason to say you know I would like to choose Woodland Heights."

Yana Ogletree with Memorial Health Systems told us, "I don't think that there's just one specific thing that you should look at on the web site. I think it depends on what you're looking for and what your situation is."

If you would like to research your local hospital you can go to www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
