Locations and Phone Numbers for East Texas Ike Shelters

LUFKIN, NACOGDOCHES (KTRE) - East Texas is gearing up for Hurricane Ike by preparing for any evacuees from the Gulf Coast region that could make their way into Lufkin or Nacogdoches. Here's the information for the shelters in both cities:


For questions and concerns about Hurricane Ike, you can call the Emergency Operations Center at (936) 634-8731.

The shelter hub is located at Lufkin High School; (936) 630-0620

Volunteers should call the same number. You must call this number before going directly to a Lufkin shelter. That's so organizers can keep track of which evacuees are in which shelters.

The Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin is now open as a special needs shelter.

Evacuees must check in at the hub before going directly to a shelter.
